امروزه، افزایش جمعیت، باعث تبدیل خانه‌های ویلایی به آپارتمان‌های کوچک، و در نتیجه، تبدیل مکان‌های سکونت به فضاهایی محدود با عملکرد مشخص شده است که اکثرا فاقد نور، دید و هوای مناسب هستند؛ زندگی در این شرایط، علاوه بر تاثیر در روحیه ساکنین، می‌تواند در تعاملات روزمره افراد با یکدیگر نیز تاثیرگذار باشد. خانه کوچک دارای زمینی به مساحت ۷۰ مترمربع بود و در حالت معمول، می‌توانست به فضایی با مشخصات فوق تبدیل شود، اما سعی ما بر این بود تا محدودیت‌های یک آپارتمان کوچک را بشکنیم و هر فضا به جای یک عملکرد خاص، تبدیل به فضایی چندعملکردی شود و علاوه بر آن، همه فضاهای مجموعه دارای نور، دید و تهویه مناسب باشند.
با توجه به محدود بودن ابعاد زمین، محدودیت‌های مشرفیت و محدودیت ارتفاع، سعی بر آن شد تا به جای استفاده از عناصر تفکیک‌کننده، مانند دیوار، برای جداسازی فضاها، با طراحی ریزفضاهای هر واحد در ترازهای ارتفاعی متفاوت، تفکیک فضاهای مورد نظر صورت پذیرد تا ضمن ایجاد ارتباط منطقی بین فضاها و رعایت اصل سلسله‌مراتب، شاهد شکل‌گیری فضاهایی انعطاف‌پذیر باشیم. با این کار، فضایی یک‌دست، گرم و دلباز با نورگیری مطلوب ایجاد شد و حرکت از یک فضا به فضای دیگر، با تعداد محدود پله انجام پذیرفت تا علاوه بر اینکه حس حرکت و پویایی بیشتر شود، در عین حال، این جابه‌جایی فضایی با سهولت انجام پذیرد و حس سکون و آرامش خانه از دست نرود. بدین‌ترتیب، فضاهای بلااستفاده به کمترین حد خود رسید و از جزءجزء فضاها استفاده شد و باعث شد افراد ساکن در مجموعه، کیفیت‌های فضایی متنوعی را تجربه کنند.
در حقیقت، کل فضای خانه تبدیل به یک دستگاه پله شد که در آن، اختلاف تراز پاگردها کمتر، و هر پاگرد گسترده و تبدیل به یک فضای قابل استفاده شد؛ این دستگاه پله، هم حس حرکت و پویایی، و هم حس سکونت و آرامش را در خود دارد. از طرفی، با کاشت گیاهان در سطح‌های مختلف و فضاهای بلااستفاده، و ایجاد حس بصری و لامسه بین ساکنین و گیاهان، توانستیم کمی از حس خانه‌های ویلایی را در این ساختمان کوچک تداعی کنیم که تاثیر به‌سزایی در روحیه و شادابی ساکنین خواهد داشت.

The increase in population and conversion of villa houses to small apartments, caused residential buildings to change to a limited space with certain functions, which often lacks light, view and fresh air. Such conditions can affect not only the morale of the inhabitants, but also, the everyday interactions of people with each other. The project had an area of 70 square meters, and as a usual case could have been a space as it is said. We tried to break the limits of a small apartment; any space becomes a multi-functional space, instead of having a particular function. In addition, all spaces of the house have light, view and proper ventilation.
Considering the limited dimensions of the area, and the limitations of elevation and height, it was tried to separate spaces through designing sub-spaces with different altitudes in each unit, instead of using segregated elements such as the wall. In this way, through establishing a logical connection between spaces and observing the principle of hierarchy, we witnessed the formation of flexible and multi-functional spaces. Therefore, a harmonic and warm space with optimum lighting was created. Moving from one space to another is possible through a limited number of stairs; Therefore, the sense of motion and dynamism increases. While moving around the space is easy, the sense of tranquility is enhanced. Keeping the unused spaces to a minimum, made the inhabitants of the house experience a variety of spatial qualities.
In fact, the whole house space turned into a staircase set, in which the difference between the landings is less, and each landing is extended to a usable space; These flights of stairs has a sense of motion and dynamism as well as a sense of tranquility. In addition, growing plants at different levels and unused spaces and creating visual and tactile sense between residents and plants, can regain a little sense of a villa house in this small building, which can greatly impact on the morale and cheerfulness of the residents.
