آرایشگاه VIP خدمات پیرایشی و بهداشتی برای آقایان ارایه می‌کند که طراحی شعبه دوم آن در باشگاه ورزشی انقلاب، در ساختمان نیمه‌مخروبه‌ای که از یک سمت، در کنار زمین‌های تنیس، و از جهت دیگر، در کنار فضای سبز قرار گرفته بود، به دفتر ما واگذار شد.

در ابتدا، به دنبال ایده‌ای برآمده از ذات موضوع آرایشگاه، برای پیشبرد طراحی بودیم. در آرایشگاه‌ها، افراد، ژولیده وارد و از سوی دیگر، آراسته خارج می‌شوند. این حکایت، بسیار شبیه وظیفه‌ای به نظر می‌آمد که به ما محول شده بود؛ گویی این‌بار، آرایشگر، معماری است که وارد اتاقی ژولیده می‌شود، آن را می‌آراید و می‌رود. برای این که رد زمان در کار حفظ شود، تصمیم گرفتیم هسته اصلی پروژه، یعنی جایی را که فعالیت آرایشی انجام می‌شود، بیاراییم‌ و باقی جاها را فقط کمی مرتب کنیم. با این کار، نه تنها داستانی از فعالیت فضا را نقل کرده‌ایم، بلکه هزینه‌ها را نیز کاهش داده‌ایم.

پس از دست‌یابی به ایده اولیه، شروع به لکه‌گذاری فعالیت‌ها کردیم. دو نکته در این کار حایز اهمیت بود: یکی، قرینگی نقشه پروژه و دیگری، چشم‌انداز فوق‌العاده زمین‌های تنیس و فضای سبز. نکته این بود که صندلی آرایش باید به سمت یکی از این دو قرار می‌گرفت. ما قسمت میانی و به سمت زمین‌های تنیس را برای این کاربری انتخاب کردیم تا با قرارگیری آینه‌ها، هر دو چشم‌انداز را به صورت یک روند یک در میان (زمین تنیس، فضای سبز، زمین تنیس، فضای سبز)، در معرض دید مخاطب قرار دهیم. این انتخاب، یک پتانسیل دیگر را نیز به ما پیشنهاد می‌کرد: اگر ما کل پروژه را قرینه طراحی می‌کردیم، بازی عجیبی با تصاویر، در آینه‌ها ایجاد می‌شد که برای ما بسیار هیجان‌انگیز بود؛ دیوارها و پنجره‌ها در واقعیت و آینه، در امتداد یکدیگر قرار می‌گرفتند و مرز واقعیت و مجاز لغزان می‌شد.

در این پروژه، از رنگ‌های غالبا خنثی استفاده شده است تا افرادی که وارد پروژه می‌شوند، شاخص‌ترین المان باشند و فضا قدرت‌نمایی نکند. یگانه رنگ پروژه، رنگ موتورسیکلتی است که نمادی از آرایشگاه VIP است و رنگ آن از طیف رنگ زمین‌های تنیس انتخاب شده است. همچنین از گیاه سانسوریا و آگلونما، به عنوان گیاهانی که تصفیه‌کننده طبیعی هوا و مقاوم در برابر مواد استفاده‌شده در آرایشگاه هستند، در این پروژه استفاده شده است.

VIP Barbershop offers both beauty and health services to gentlemen. The design of their second branch at Enghelab Sports Complex has been assigned to our team. Location of this semi-ruined building was adjacent to tennis courts and in the other side, to green spaces.

Initially, we were seeking for inspiration within the realm of concept of barbershop. Barbershops offer a unique service, where individuals enter with scruffy appearance and depart feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. In essence, this was as the responsibility which was assigned to us, to transform this building into distinct unit. It was as though the architect had presumed the role of the stylist. In order to maintain the sense of passage of time, we had decided to transform the core of the project (styling area) and only organize the remaining spaces. This would both reduce cost and tell a story.

After attaining the initial idea, we established to spot the functions. There are two important elements in this project: First was the symmetrical aspect of project blue print and second was the phenomenal scenery of adjoining tennis courts and green spaces. It was imperative to decide which way the styling stations (seats) were to be faced. We chose to select the middle ground and face the seats towards the tennis courts. Calculated placement of mirrors allowed for utility of both scenes in one, as a decussate and presentation of both available landscapes to the client. The symmetry plan provided a unique potential. By designing a project revolving an axis of symmetry, we were able to play with shapes and images portrayed in mirrors, which was extremely exciting for us. Actual walls and windows would align coherently with mirrors which would blur and blend the seams between reality and virtual.

This project witnesses the utility of neutral color pallets. This would emphasize and draw focus from the environment and put the attention on the clients. The main colorful attraction of this design is the color of the motorcycle which is a notion to the symbol of the VIP Barbershop and in turn, reflect and draw inspiration from the colors used in the tennis court. Plants such as Sansevieria and Aglaonema, provide a natural source of air filtration and are very resistant and strong against product used in the barbershop.
