کارخانه شمیم پلیمر یک کارخانه‌ تولید مواد پلیمری است که متناسب با عملکرد خود، دارای بخش‌های تولید، اداری و پژوهش است. این کارخانه در زمینی با هندسه نزدیک به مربع (طول ۶۰ متر و عرض ۵۰ متر) و مساحت ۳۰۰۰ مترمربع که از شمال و غرب به همسایه، و از جنوب و شرق به خیابان محدود است، در یک شهرک صنعتی کوچک در استان البرز واقع است.

شخصیت متداول بناهای صنعتی در ایران، ساختمانی یکپارچه است که به‌ناچار، دیوارهای داخلی نقش جداکننده‌های اصلی را دارند، و عدم تفکیک معمارانه قلمرو فعالیت گروه‌های مختلف کاری، دلیل اصلی کیفیت نامناسب فضاهای زیستی در چنین کاربری‌هایی است. از آنجا که یک کارخانه از فضاهای متعدد کاری، و به تبع آن، از طیف گسترده‌ای از شاغلین، از کارگران ساده تا متخصصین آزمایشگاهی برخوردار است، کیفیت فضاهای ارتباطی آن که در حقیقت، نقش جداکننده قلمروهای مختلف را نیز دارند، اهمیت دوچندان پیدا می‌کند. از این‌رو، این پروژه تلاش می‌کند با بهبود حس فضاهای دسترسی، با این مشکل مقابله کند و کیفیت زندگی شاغلین کارخانه را بهبود بخشد.

طرح این مجموعه در اطراف دو فضای تهی عمودبرهم اتفاق می‌افتد: یک فضای تهی، کشیدگی جنوب به شمال، و فضای تهی دیگر، کشیدگی شرق به غرب دارد. هندسه فضای تهی امکان تفکیک بخش‌های مختلف را میسر می‌کند، و در عین حال، دسترسی هر قلمرو به قلمرو دیگر، از طریق این حیاط میانی میسر می‌شود. ابعاد انسانی، هوای آزاد، نور و سایه، فضای سبز و رنگ، کیفیت فضایی حیاط میانی را افزایش می‌دهند، و بخش‌های مختلف نیز با دیوارهایی از جنس شیشه یا پنجره‌، به حیاط میانی اشراف دارند و امنیت روانی آن را تامین می‌کنند.

در انتخاب مصالح و متریال پروژه، به خلوص آنها توجه شده است. سازه از فولاد، کف‌ها از بتن، دیوارها از بلوک‌های پیش‌ساخته بتنی، شیشه و پانل‌های پیش‌ساخته بتنی، و پله‌ها از بتن درجا ساخته شده‌اند، بدون اینکه مصالح دیگری به آنها افزوده شود.

The project is a factory for the production of polymeric materials. The factory has a production, office and research department. The project site is approximately square like (60 meters long and 50 meters wide), and is limited to the neighbor in the north and west, and to the street in the south and east. This site with an area of three thousand square meters, is located in a small industrial town in Alborz province of Iran.

Majority of industrial buildings in Iran, have integrated structure, and the only dividing area for different functions are interior walls. The lack of architectural separation for different work activities in Iranian factories, is the major reason for the low quality of living spaces for such functions. As a factory has multiple work spaces, and houses a range of staff from laborer to lab specialists, the architectural quality of connecting spaces which also plays the role of separating different activity areas, is of crucial importance. This project seeks to solve this problem, by increasing sense of connecting spaces to improve the quality of life of factory workers.

The concept of this complex took place in two outdoor void spaces perpendicular to each other. One void stretches south to north, and the other empty space stretches east to west. The geometry of these void spaces makes separation of different parts possible, and acts as a middle courtyard for connecting different areas with each other. Human dimensions, open air, light and shadow, green space and color increase the sense of middle courtyard. Different sections with glass walls or windows overlook the middle courtyard, and improve its psychological security.

In choosing construction materials, their purity has been considered. Floors are made of concrete and steel, walls are made of prefabricated concrete blocks, glass and prefabricated concrete panels, and stairs are made of cast in place concrete without any other materials.
